  1. Dog’s eyes look a little red, I hope it’a not vitiligo caused by uveodermatological syndrome because more issues will occur down the road. The dog’s immune system starts attacking the pigmentation, but also something in the eyes. Pretty sure that’s what my Rottie had. All of the black fur and skin turned white, but the brown stayed brown. Eventually went fully blind. He still loved his life but he bumped into walls a bit more than before.

  2. As a Rottweiler breeder, usually when you see white fur, the pedigree has excessive inbreeding which is a warning sign for future health issues. I don’t remember if it’s an automatic disqualification but it’s a huge point deduction if you’re trying to get your dog certified for AKC/ADRK breed standards.

There was an interesting documentary of the selective breeding of wild foxes in Russia as an experiment to see how many generations it took to selectively breed a domesticated fox. As the successive generations were selected based on traits, they began to show white fur, and the idea was that once this trait manifested in the breed the genetic selection was more pliable and they were bred back into their original line because further breeding into the new white fur line caused more problems. At least that’s how I remember the documentary saying.

  3. Looks beautiful upon further inspection but at first glance, I thought that was a human crossbred with a pig (because of the nose). Whatta good boy. <3

    I definitely need some sleep.

  4. Is it possible to selective breed for the condition? I see tons of people talking about it on here. Definitely tons of money to be made if someone can reliably produce puppies or kittens with vitiligo.
